The Roulette Wheel
Lesson 3 of 12
The roulette wheel is the central element of the game.
In European Roulette, the wheel contains 37 numbered pockets:
• Numbers 1 to 36
• One green zero (0)
The numbers are not arranged in numerical order. Instead, they follow a carefully designed sequence that alternates between red and black numbers.
Wheel Layout
The wheel contains:
• 18 red numbers
• 18 black numbers
• 1 green zero
This arrangement creates a balanced distribution across the wheel.
Why Number Placement Matters
Many players focus only on the betting table. However, the wheel itself is equally important.
Understanding the wheel layout helps players better understand sectors, wheel statistics and advanced roulette concepts.
